The New D.C. Heel of Choice

Anyone who has ever worked in Washington, D.C. like I did this past summer knows the rule. You have your comfortable shoes for the commute to work and then you change into your killer pumps of choice once you get their. Wearing heels during your commute is like a cardinal sin. There is no way for can keep your balance on the red line with anything higher than a 2 inch heel.

However Kate Spade's Halle Wedge may be re-vamping the way we do D.C. commute.

Although these shoes will run you upwards of $300 they are said to be as comfortable as a pair of Crocs. Now I am not use if I believe that, but I wouldn't mind trying them on for size. These Kate Spade's might just become the new POWER HEEL.

Bag Lady

So I was on Macy's website looking at a Michael Kors tote bag when I stumbled upon this beauty.

I am in LOVE/LUST with this bag. I showed it to my mom and she said I can get it. But as a Christmas gift of course. I will definitely be waiting impatiently for this one.

Haircut Update

Sooo.... I cut my hair some more. I don't really know if I am feeling this bang or not but all the same I guess it's cool all the same.

First They're Sour Then They're Sweet

I was looking at sour patch kids commercials on YouTude. Please don't ask why. And I came across this parody and I couldn't stop laughing.

Kanye West- Monster ft. Rick Ross Jay-Z Nicki Minaj & Bon Iver

This might be one of the sickest songs I've heard in a LONG time. I have to give it to her, Nicki Minaj killed her verse.

Bittersweet.... Far From Over

This summer was probably one of the best summers of my life. I met some of the most amazing people. I lived in one of the most amazing cities Washington, D.C. Last but not least, I was able to do what I love best WRITE!!

Although I didn't get to do a lot of traditional summer activities like laying out on the beach or going to random amusement parks. However, I got to do a million other things that I enjoyed so much. Summer ending is bittersweet to me. I am really excited for the upcoming semester for numerous reasons. Mostly because I really miss all my lovely friends who I weren't able to see this summer. Although I LOVED summer, I am EXCITED for this school year.

This was my first day back to school outfit, something simple yet cute. I hate taking pictures with my BlackBerry. Sometimes the pictures come out cute and other times it is an EPIC FAIL.  But I am glad that I look tall in this picture.

FLOTUS Never A Disappointment

Michelle Obama was photoed wearing this very cute tunic in Martha's Vineyard. FLOTUS never disappoints me. The only First Lady to ever come close to her style was Jackie O.

R.I.P Aaliyah

On August 25, 2001 singer Aaliyah Dana Haughton, along with eight others, was killed in a plane crash in the Bahamas.

I can actually almost remember this day like it was yesterday because I remember a friend of mine from elementary school called me and told me to turn on the news. I loved Aaliyah. She was one of the few R&B artist my mother actually let me listen to. Her sound was so different and unique. Her music can still be played to this day and still feel relevant. I remember I use to listen to her and Pink every morning on my way to summer camp. I even had two huge posters of her in my room when I was a little teeny bopper. She is one artist that will definitely be missed. In some ways I don't think the music game has been the same since her.

Here are two of my favorite songs of hers.

Kimora Leaves Phat Farm

I know this may be a few days late, but I was really excited when I heard this news a few moments ago. Kimora Lee Simmons announced on last friday that she is no longer apart of the Phat Farm family. I love Kimora Lee Simmons, but let's face is Baby Phat and Phat Farm is definitely going down the drain. Originally is was a clothing line similar to FUBU, by African Americans for African Americans. But in the past decade or so these clothing lines have seemed to loose their mojo.

I was just tweeting a few weeks ago that I wish Kimora would just leave Baby Phat and maybe just brand her KLS Collection full time. I love her and I think that she has a big enough fan base to actually market and sell clothes without the urban look of the Baby Phat collection.

I can't wait to see what kind of ideas she comes up with.

Give A Little, Get A Little

Lately, I have found life to be disheartening for one reason. There are so many things I want to do, but I am once again finding that I do not have the time to do everything. I planned a few things for this upcoming semester to get into, but I am finding that I may not be able to do everything I want because I definitely want to continue furthering my career.

It is true that you definitely must give a little to get a little. I figured if I give a little bit of my time now while I am in college and dedicate it to my career then I will be further along by the time I graduate and will not have a lot of trouble starting my career after college. However, the time it takes for me to invest in my future is causing me to have to rearrange things in my present. The whole situation kind of sucks. It is a part of growing up and I understand that. I rather be moderately unhappy now for that later in life gratification. My mentor told me that she and some friends from college made a pact to be retired by the age of 40. I believe she can do it because she's very put together and ahead of her game. She knows a lot about journalism and have a lot of connections. I would love to have the opportunity to retire by 40 and just maybe do some freelance work from time to time.

This past summer has really helped me to mature and realize what things are worth pursing in life. I just don't want to miss out on the things I really want to do in life. However, I know that writing will always make me happy regardless if it being a pastime or career. Essentially, I guess I will not mind sacrificing small dreams for my big ones like journalism.

Gaga and her Birkin

Gaga had her Birkin bag personalized by artist Terrance Koh. I love it. Personalized items allow you to take classic looks and make them more you.

A Little Too Far Fetched??

I always wondered what made some people think that they are so well versed in all things "you" that they have the audacity to tell you that your dreams or aspirations are far fetched. Granted, I know I want a lot of things in life. But as long as remain motivated I know I can achieve those things. I refuse to be a pessimistic person about life. Life is hard already in itself without people adding in their two cents to try and keep you down.

One thing I will never respect is an unsupportive person. I think it goes back to that saying that I'm sure almost everyone's grandmother has told them, "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." That's just a true statement. It only proves the point people will try and tear you down before they will try and raise you up. It's sad actually. But misery loves company.

At some point I hope that people will eventually realize how ugly it looks when they try and put others down. But that is human nature, I guess. I just know that when I see someone doing their thing, getting ahead in life with whatever natural hustle God gave them, I am proud. It makes me want to grind harder and do more. Maybe I am in the minority on this one.

Hot New Bey or Identity Crisis?

I love Beyonce's new photo shoot for House of Dereon. This is definitely the edgiest we've ever seen her, but will the REAL Bey please stand up?? I wonder if this is who she has really transformed into or is it just a ploy to try and stay relevant with hot young stars like Rihanna running new edge R&B/Hip-Hop.

Going Green!!

Cork is taking on a new shape in fashion. Cork has been deemed the "new leather". You can order these looks at: Cork Design

Would You Die For Fashion?

Rachael Zoe did a spread in Harper's Bazar with designers Michael Kors, Vera Wang, and Marc Jacobs that practically killed her. She was poisoned, buried, and electrocuted. I love this spread, very cute and adventurous.

Pulitzer Prize Pictures

I still have a million pictures on my camera from internship in Washington, D.C. that I still haven't posted yet. Me and one of my friends went on a tour of the Newseum in D.C. They had every Pulitzer Prize picture posted in an exhibit. Here are some of the pictures that really touched me.

Hurricane Katrina
Busing African American students to white schools at the beginning of desegregation.

Fatal Fire, a aunt and niece fall as the fire escape gives.

The Twin Towers

The tragedy at Columbine high school

"I did not have sexual relations with that woman" lol
